The purpose of generating this method statement is to define stepwise procedure for electric water heater installation.
By following and implementing this electrical water heater installation method statement, contractor shall ensure that the job execution complies with the project requirements and serves the intended function to client satisfaction.
Overall project plumbing engineer and supervisor are responsible for implementing this procedure.
Electrical water heater and related accessories shall be in line with the approved material submittals and project specifications.
Arrange below tools before starting the water geyser installation:
Portable hand tools
Spirit Level / Level Threads
Drill Machine / Hammering Machine
Step Ladder.
Material Handling & Storage
On receipt of the Electrical Water Heater and accessories at site, inspection shall be done.
The Electric Water Heaters will be checked to ensure that it complies with the approved material submittals in terms of make, model, type, capacity etc.
Any kind of material found not suitable for site use will be removed immediately from site and the same will be replaced by correct item.
Materials shall be off-loaded carefully at site using necessary manpower and required equipment to ensure that no damage is caused to the materials.
Necessary precautions shall be taken for unloading, shifting & storage.
All packages or items relevant to electric water heater reaching to site shall be identified as per package list.
Electric Water Heaters shall be preferably shifted directly to its location for installation.
In case the area of installation / foundation is not ready the Electric Water Heaters will be stored in site stores as per manufacturer instructions.
Any discrepancies, damage etc., found will be notified and reported for further action.
Plumbing site engineer shall make sure that water heater is not damaged during delivery on site and during the storage.
All packages shall be stored under protected area, till the Electrical Water Heater is shifted for installation.
ELECTRICAL WATER HEATER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Ensure all civil works are completed for the area of installation, and clearance is obtained from civil contractor to proceed for water geyser installation.
Prior to start the installation, refer to the approved shop drawings related to the area of installation and ensure that required materials are available at site as per approved material submittals.
Ensure the materials were stored properly and there is no mark of damage or deformity of any kind before issuing the material from site store.
As per site detail drawings make sure only approved type electric water heater is available for installation i.e. make, model and capacity.
Electric Water Heaters shall be installed as shown in the approved shop drawing.
For wall mounted geysers mark the location and install the hangers/brackets and supports as per manufacturer instructions.
Hang or place the water heaters on the supports or hangers as applicable.
Floor mounted type electric water heater shall be installed on the house keeping pad / foundation ensuring adequate space is available for valves, piping and future maintenance.
Connect the water supply piping incoming and outgoing using approved type connectors and hoses.
Install / connect the pressure relief valve as per detail drawings.
Make electrical connections as per the wiring diagram.
Raise the inspection request for client/consultant approvals.
